Born in Boston, Richard Scarry started his career illustrating Little Golden Books such as bestselling titles I Am a Bunny and Rooster Struts.

He is best known for his large-format book series such as Cars and Trucks and Things That Go and What Do People Do All Day. They take place in a fictional town called Busytown, populated by a cast of anthropomorphized characters, like Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat, Bananas Gorilla and many more.
