PRESS: Snoopy Stars in Retrospekt’s Latest Retro Tech Collection with Peanuts
November 22, 2024

MILWAUKEE — Retrospekt, a product design and development studio dedicated to creating unique experiences through new and refurbished retro tech products, is excited to launch a new Peanuts® collection of analog film, music and timekeeping devices featuring a classic take on everyone’s favorite cartoon beagle — Snoopy.

The Retrospekt Snoopy collection features a range of retro-inspired products that capture the timeless appeal of Charles M. Schulz’s beloved character. It includes a Polaroid instant camera, a 35mm film camera, 35mm film, an analog flip clock, two different camera bags and a boombox. Each item showcases classic Snoopy art styles and follows a consistent design language, built from a classic black, white and red color palette that has been prominently featured in the strip as well as core Peanuts’ products for nearly 75 years.

“Peanuts has been culturally relevant for so long that it’s not just the comic strip that lives in people’s minds,” says Retrospekt Creative Director Michael Kempen. “There’s been a lot of classic products too, especially ones that feature Snoopy like the snow cone machine and quite a few different coin banks and figurines seen over the past seven decades. The aesthetic direction of this collection pays as much homage to the classic Peanuts comics as it does to classic Peanuts products.”

The Retrospekt Snoopy collection:

  • Polaroid 600 Snoopy Instant Film Camera: built from original refurbished internal components from the 80s and 90s, rehoused in new exteriors molded in white and black. It provides a fresh take on a classic instant film experience.
  • Retrospekt FC-11 Snoopy 35mm Film Camera: modeled after a classic point-and-shoot, with a fixed focus and built-in flash. Its focus on presenting film photography in a simple and straightforward manner makes for a camera that’s fun and easy to use for those of all skill levels.
  • Retropsekt Snoopy 35mm film: 24 exposures of 400 ISO, color (C-41) 35mm film.
  • Retrospekt Snoopy Flip Clock: a newly-made take on a classic home and office essential. This clock features an analog display that cycles through physical number cards displaying the hour and minute with a satisfying clack. Each hour of the day displays a different Snoopy graphic.
  • 35mm and instant camera bags: each developed to complement the cameras in the collection or act as eye-catching protection for a variety of film, digital and/or instant cameras. Capturing one of the strip’s most enduring images, each of the red bags features prominent embroidery of Snoopy and Woodstock resting atop his doghouse.
  • Retrospekt BX-85 Snoopy Boombox: features both a cassette player and radio playable through two, external speakers. While the aesthetic is pure vintage charm, modern Bluetooth connectivity lets users use its speakers with other devices, like their phone. A see-through cassette window adds an authentic touch, displaying whatever tape is currently in rotation.
  • Snoopy double-sided turntable slip mat: displays Snoopy lounging on his doghouse against a bold red background on one side, while the reverse showcases Woodstock’s aerial acrobatics against clean white.

The BX-85 boom box ($99), FC-11 35mm camera ($59), Polaroid 600 camera ($179), camera bags ($25 and $35), flip clock ($59), slip mat ($19) and film ($17) will be sold individually and available for purchase on Retrospekt’s website starting November 22.

From the casual cool of a boombox to the simple joy of point-and-shoot photography, Retrospekt’s Snoopy collection invites you to experience technology with style, simplicity and just the right touch of cool.
