A Grand Day Out (1989) is a British stop-motion animated short film directed and animated by Nick Park. The film introduces Wallace, a cheese-loving inventor voiced by Peter Sallis, and his silent yet intelligent dog, Gromit. Facing an empty cheese supply, the duo builds a homemade rocket to travel to the Moon, believed to be made of cheese. On the lunar surface, they encounter a coin-operated robot who dreams of skiing on Earth. The film's whimsical narrative and detailed animation marked the beginning of the beloved Wallace and Gromit series.
