Olivetti Valentine White Manual Typewriter and Case
The Olivetti Valentine is a manual portable typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass and Perry A. King, first released in 1969. Manufactured in Spain and later in Italy and Mexico, the Valentine was created as a design-forward alternative to the traditional typewriter — intended “for use anywhere except in an office.”
This example features the much less common white ABS plastic body, produced in far smaller numbers than the iconic red version. The lighter finish emphasizes the Valentine’s sculptural form and clean lines, offering a more understated take on one of the most recognizable industrial designs of the 20th century. The model is now held in the permanent collections of institutions like MoMA and the V&A, reflecting its lasting design significance. Despite its distinctive aesthetic, it is a fully functional machine built on the reliable mechanics of the Olivetti Lettera 32 platform.
The typewriter has been fully serviced, refurbished, and tested — ready for immediate use. It includes its original hard-shell case with an integrated handle for easy transport. Expect normal wear and tear true to age as well as some slight yellowing.
Please note this keyboard is an Italian layout.
