Polaroid Big Shot Packfilm Camera

Sale price$ 199

The Polaroid Big Shot is most famous for being one of Andy Warhol's favorite cameras. The legendary artist used the Big Shot to capture iconic photos of John Lennon, Diana Ross, Mick Jagger, Blondie, Jean-Michael Basquiat and countless other creatives during the 1970s and 1980s. The Big Shot became such an important part of Warhol's work that he once called it his "pen and pencil."

  • Camera type: Polaroid rigid body packfilm
  • Film type: Polaroid packfilm
  • Lens: 1:29 f=220mm
  • Shutter: Fixed speed, 1/50
  • Focus: Fixed focus, coincidence rangefinder for fixed distance
  • Batteries: None
  • Flash option: Magicube only

When shooting with the Polaroid Big Shot, it's necessary to use Magicubes. Magicubes are made using four separate flashbulbs backed by plastic reflectors. They provide the exact level of light needed for proper exposure, as the aperture size and shutter speeds are both fixed and non-adjustable. This Polaroid Big Shot comes with three Magicubes, for a total of 12 flashes.

Check out SUPERSENSE for new film options. Expired Fuji FP-100C and FB-3000B film can be found through various outlets.

Before integral films like SX-70 and 600, peel-apart film was the standard in instant photography. These cameras require the user to extract each photograph from the camera after the exposure is made; doing so spreads the developing chemistry between the negative and positive. Once the development is complete (per the film's instructions), the user separates the negative from the finished positive.

All packfilm cameras from Retrospekt are refurbished internally and externally; any defective components are replaced with refurbished, guaranteed parts.

Please note that the camera you receive may not come with the original grip intact. The original grip on these cameras is extremely fragile and prone to breaking, and it cannot be replaced. As a result, this piece is not always present and is not covered under warranty if it is present.
