Released in 1982, R.E.M.’s Chronic Town is the band’s debut EP, presented on cassette with all of its early Athens jangle-pop mystery and college-rock urgency intact. Featuring “Wolves, Lower,” “Gardening At Night” and “Carnival Of Sorts (Box Cars),” it captures the strange, chiming sound that helped define R.E.M.’s earliest era.
