Raintree County (1957) is an epic historical romance directed by Edward Dmytryk and starring Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor and Eva Marie Saint. The film follows John Wickliff Shawnessy, a young man from Indiana, who becomes entangled with Susanna Drake, a troubled Southern belle, leading to a tumultuous marriage set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. Notable for its lavish production and Taylor's performance, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, the film also received nominations for Art Direction, Costume Design and Music Score.
