Seiko 'Pogue" Automatic Chronograph ref. 6139-6005 (Yellow Dial) Circa July 1975 Wristwatch
This vintage Seiko "Pogue" is the definition of cool - How did Seiko pack so many features into one watch while retaining such a balanced and appealing design aesthetic? Colonel William Reid Pogue wore an earlier reference 6139-6005 with yellow "Resist" dial, hence the nickname. This was the first automatic chronograph worn in space during his Skylab 4 mission from November 16, 1973 to February 8, 1974. We love the butterscotch yellow dial and lightly-faded "Pepsi" bezel and inner ring! In fact, Col. William Pogue's very own Seiko 6139-6005 was also faded like this. The quick-set day of the week can be displayed in English or Spanish and Sunday is shown in red. Seiko opted for bright red chronograph hands on this model for increased legibility and it all just works so well. This particular "Pogue" comes in honest original condition on its desirable original Seiko "H-Link" bracelet and is ready to pair with your Japanese sports car (i.e. a Honda S2000).
