The Sony Walkman D-E220 is a portable CD player from the early 2000s, produced during the mature phase of Sony’s Discman line when anti-skip buffering and compact electronics had largely stabilized the format. It features ESP MAX electronic skip protection, allowing reliable playback during movement without the mechanical bulk of earlier designs. The rounded red housing and minimal control layout reflect Sony’s shift toward lighter, more pocketable players as CDs competed with emerging digital formats. It supports standard audio CDs and CD-R media, positioning it as a practical, late-generation example of portable optical playback.
