Tyco Super Blocks Telephone
The Tyco Super Blocks Telephone is a fully functional landline phone styled to resemble a buildable toy. Released in the late 1980s, it was part of Tyco’s Super Blocks line — a series of interlocking plastic bricks made to be compatible with Lego after Lego's original patent expired in 1978.
Although frequently described as a “Lego phone,” the Tyco Block Telephone was never officially affiliated with the Lego Group. The connection is largely visual and functional — Tyco’s Super Blocks could connect with Lego bricks, and the design clearly evokes the Lego aesthetic. The phone operates like any standard landline of the time, with push-button dialing and a detachable handset connected by a coiled cord. A built-in drawer beneath the baseplate adds an extra touch of randomness, offering space to store spare bricks or small accessories.
