Polaroid SX-70 Original Chrome Instant Camera

I think my refurbished SX 70 will be a lot of fun. After I get some film and put it through its paces, I’ll let you know.

I LOVE IT!!!! Camera packaging was so cool it makes you feel like you’re opening a new iPhone. The actual camera itself works perfectly and looks brand new. Delivery was okay, not the sellers fault but I had trouble with UK customs and Royal Mail. Customer service was great, they were very informative and helpful.

Works well with the 600 film upgrade. Obviously can get better photos with my iPhone, but there is the fun and challenge of this method of retro photograpy.

I’m head-over-heals with my SX-70 Original. I went with the 600 conversion and don’t regret it. 600 film is so easy to find. I was torn between the SX-70 Original and SX-70 Sonar. I definitely have to take time with each photo—focusing and paying attention to the light. But I love being so present in the moment. It is a perfect fit!

Dear Retrospekt, I am writing to you and all the wonderful people at retrospekt to let you know I am overwhelmed with my refurbished SX-70 Polaroid land camera I received not long ago, and it was shipped very securely, and very well packaged. I was so excited as I opened the box and took out the XS-70 Polaroid camera, and was very careful as I did. I looked at it from every angle, it just was something to see. It had some nice weight to it, no plastic with this camera. I found it was a bit hard to open the camera at first, I was careful not to pull too hard, I did this a couple times closing it and pulling straight up, it eventually got easier to pull it up, it finally was not hard anymore to open the camera.I was so glad. Before I tried it out I read the instructions carefully with the small user guide included inside the box. So then I took my color SX-70 Polaroid film , and opened the door button and and inserted the film, closed the door and automatically the darkside of the film came out so smoothly. I was so happy, and then I went into my kitchen turned on all the lights, and i set the exposure to try first in between light and dark. And I had it well focus , took a few photos, I pressed and held the shutter button fully for a about 3 seconds, until the photo came out, it took about that 3 seconds and it came out just perfect. You need to press and hold the shtter button you don't just press the shutter button and let go, I know this from when my father had his polaroid SX-70 Polaroid camera when I was a child, in the 70's, and he knew his camera. I waited about 15 minutes, I covered them from the light,and by golly, the photos were what I expected, I cannot be more pleased. You need to experiment with the exposure of course, and if of course the more light the better, since my kitchen had lots of light and the sun was shinning in my kitchen, my next 4 photos I adjusted the exposure just a slight darker with the lighten / darken control, and they were even better, the contrast, the colors way better. My camera works perfectly, it is just so beautiful, and to think, it looks modern, I wold never believed this camera is from early 1970's. I wish to thank you all at Retrospekt, and what dedication and love that went to refurbished this beautiful piece of art, which it is. You are the best, and my satisfaction could not be less. I'm really happy to find retrospekt and finally got my first SLR instant camera, the SX-70. It came just like a brand new one, the touch is awesome and the leather smells good also! The most important, the photos I shoot with were fantastic. Really enjoy shooting with and recommend to everyone who loves instant photography. Just a little reminder for international buyers. The shipment outside the US will take bunch of time. I ordered the 29th November 2021 from Italy and got it the 11th January 2022. I also paid the import tax about 93€, which is quit expensive. But of course all of this isn't retrospekt fault.

A retro surprise; fun for parties! However, focus on this camera takes a bit of practice so you might want to consider purchasing the advanced model with auto focus. which also eliminates the need for a flash bar. Another small tip, use film from Impossible.

This is not my first Polaroid camera,but it is, without a doubt, the only one that I can recall that almost made me cry with joy.I am neither kidding nor exaggerating. I was so excited to find this camera and especially in such great condition as restored by Retrospekt. It was a bit hard to use at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. Shipping was quick, and it arrived safely packed! This is going to be great to use, but also just a conversation piece around my apt!

I really love this camera. It is taking me some time getting used to the polaroid film and the viewfinder to focus but I think that I am on the right track. The Tesla logo was taken as close as possible (about 12 inches) and it came out very sharp! On a bright day, I do feel that I may need to brighten the exposure a little bit. I am very happy with it! No regrets! Thank you.

I love this camera!! It was a lil bumpy start at the beginning because I never shot with this type of camera before. But I figured it out rather quickly :) I also think I would benefit from purchasing a flash bar so I can take pictures in more shadowy parts or on cloudy days and ofc indoors, because my pictures come out waaaaaaay to dark in these circumstances (not sure if that's the quirk of my specific camera, or it's just a normal thing for this camera due to the ISO 160)

Can't tell it's refurbished, looks brand new! I think the key for great images with this camera is learning how to set the light meter adjuster in order to match the lighting conditions with the ISO100 SX70 film. Seems to like the Arizona brightness!

It looks and feel great. It brings back such great memories of my time using it when I was in graduate school at RIT. I did my thesis in SX70 film. I can’t wait until the film arrives.

Wow. I am so obsessed with the SX-70! Just a warning, it is much harder to work than a typical polaroid. You definitely have to adjust the light/dark control to get the desired picture. I love the way it folds and it exceeded my expectations! Thank you so much Retrospekt

Not only does this thing look super cool, it has a glass lens that takes sharper photos than typical plastic 600 cameras. It’s foldable so it becomes compact, which goes well with a Retrospekt vintage case. Retrospekt does an amazing job restoring and adjusting everything so all you need to do is load it up and go. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get into the hobby!

This is the best camera I've ever had, but I'm disappointed I spent so much money, yet my SX-70 doesn't come with a photo release sunguard? You might want to work on re-defining your "client satisfaction goal." Isn't this a rather important accessory? I've been advised to purchase one and I have ordered it. Isn't it sorta like having a nice windshield on your car with no windshield wipers? I think so. I still love my camera regardless. gosh, you coulda had a 10. Smile!!

I am so pleased with the refurbished SX-70 I got from Retrospekt. You can scrounge around on eBay or estate sales looking for the right one or you can just bite the bullet and get one done right. If there is anything as close to a brand new SX-70 in 2020, it would be this. The restoration is just beautiful and the camera is ready to go right out of the box. When you factor in how expensive this film is, why waste it on a camera that might fail you? The Retrospekt refurbished SX-70 is an excellent value. The camera itself draws a lot of attention on its own but the fact that it is over 40 years old and still working like a champ really is a testament to both the quality of the camera itself and the restoration job done by the fine folks at Retrospekt. I couldn't recommend this product more highly.

10/10 camera. No complaints.

I have a few plastic Polaroid cameras and while I love them, none compare to the SX-70. This is a real SLR camera with a glass lens and manual focus. It takes really fabulous photos if you know what you're doing, and even if you don't (like me). My dad had this camera back in the 70s and I was OBSESSED with it. Sadly, his died years before anyone was readily available to repair it. Now, thanks to Retrospekt, I have my own. It looks spectacular. Not new, but like a well maintained heirloom - which is exactly what it is. I couldn't love it any more than I do.
