My SX-70 Sonar is working perfectly now after retrospekt worked their magic restoring this intricate piece of equipment! It looks fantastic and works flawlessly and I couldn’t recommend retrospekt enough for Polaroid repairs and conversions!

I am extremely happy with the results! I sent in my SX-70 Sonar Autofocus to be repaired because the sonar module was not working, I also decided to upgrade the camera to accept 600 film as SI-70 film is hard to come by lately. The camera works flawlessly! The service went above and beyond my expectations. The camera was returned amazingly packaged in a protective box, that I now use as its permanent storage space, that included instruction manuals for the camera that I needed. I especially appreciate the work order sheet included that listed what components where inspected, cleaned or replaced. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I was expecting for the price that they would actually replace more parts but essentially I just paid to get it cleaned. Everything is working very nicely though. Pressing the shutter button is so satisfying. The conversion to 600 film was definitely worth it. 👌

Where to begin… Anticipation as I received the email that my repair/600 conversion sx-70 was out for delivery. Opened shipping package to find a new Retrospekt box for a 50 year old camera. Very cool. Opened up the box to find… A work of art? Maybe. A retooled Polaroid? Definitely. A new/old fully functional instant film workhorse? Without a doubt! Popped in a new 600 film pack. Camera spit out the film cover. I rolled through the film and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality. Thank you team Retrospekt!!!

I sent RetrospeKt my very not working SX-70 Sonar and received back a perfeKt, wonderful, magiKal, SX-70 Sonar modified for 600 film, which possibly makes it a SX-600 Sonar...? Whatever. It came back in a BEAUTIFUL box and has bought me nothing but unmitigated joy since it's return. I love these people, whoever they are, and recommend them without reservation. Had the leather replaced and converted to take 600 film. Camera looks like it’s brand new. Beautiful work and attention to detail. Awesome now that it takes Polaroid 600–the icing on the cake.

I feel so lucky to have found Retrospekt! After many failed attempts to fix my camera by myself, I was coming to terms with the fact that my SX 70 would just be a fancy paper weight. Finding Retrospekt was a huge stroke of luck (shops like these are SUPER RARE). They fixed my camera and did the 600 film conversion in no time, and it functions like new again. Maybe even better than before. They take pride in their work, have a passion for old tech, and have an expertise you can't really find these days. Highly recommend!

Bought the sonar SX 70 at a garage sale for $100. It took all right pictures from the start but nothing was really focused that well and the film was hard to eject. I didn’t like having to put a filter on top of the film every time so decided to pay the extra fee to have it converted to 600 film now it’s just wonderful and I just put a flash on it and the auto focus works perfectly couldn’t be happier.

I had my camera modified with a blue button, a 600 conversion and refurbish, and a battery pack to allow use of I-type film. The extra battery compartment gives it a good grip, it fits in Retrospekts SX70 bag still, and even if you cycle power over and over with film loaded it won't waste film and spit it out just from a power cycle. Overall I'm very happy with the work done and the camera is properly exposing photos, and is very well cleaned up. The packaging it returned in was really nice and I'm definitely going to have my 2nd SX70 repaired here.

My camera was in a really good shape before I sent it for convertion, so I didn't expect anything will be repaired and there is no option just to convert SX-70 Sonar to 600 (why?). So I had to pay around $300 for convertion only. Exposure works properly based on my tests, that's the most important thing for me. There was a promise on your website that you'll give a free bag with any repair service. I didn't receive it. Box is super cool and I'm satisfied overall.

I have heard a lot about Retrospekt from other photographers and decided to try their services. The website provided clear descriptions and excellent shipping instructions. My SX-70 Sonar One Step had a broken sensor, and I never thought it could be fixed, but when I got it back, it was like brand new. They checked the camera thoroughly and fixed any issues I didn't know existed. Although the turnaround time was three weeks, I received my camera back a little earlier than expected, which was great. It came back in a case, and they provided a report card of everything that was fixed, cleaned, and passed. The best part was shooting with the camera and seeing how perfectly it was calibrated again. I want to thank everyone at Retrospekt for exceeding my expectations.

I've had four cameras repaired by Retrospekt (3 SX-70 Sonars; 1 SLR 680). Obviously I am satisfied with the work, but more so I am impressed by the care and handling of my cameras. A finished camera returns to you in a box specially designed for that styled camera to assure that no damage comes to your much beloved item in transit. It's that attention to detail which makes me happy to recommend Retrospekt for items you wish to buy from their online shop, or for the refurbishment of Polaroid cameras. I am also very impressed with the personal response customers receive from the Retrospekt staff. Whether it is to tell you your camera has arrived at their shop, or to say your camera is repaired and on it's way home to you, they are personable and genuinely concerned about the work they do and the people they serve. So I am happy to be an advocate for Retrospekt, and, judging from my experiences, expect you will be pleased by all repairs or purchases.
