The current turnaround time is approximately four weeks from the date of delivery to our location.
Tired of keeping a supply of different film types to use between your 600 and SX-70 cameras? We can service your SX-70 folding camera and convert it to use 600 film.
Whether your camera seems to be acting just a bit “off” or it’s gotten so bad you think a potato would take better photos than your brick of a camera, we are here to help you out.
Beyond just converting your SX-70 folding camera to shoot 600 film, our services include recalibrating the shutter (which means your camera should shoot true to the lighten/darken dial), cleaning optical components, fresnels, viewing lenses, mirrors, etc. Our team carefully cleans the external components and replaces the leather skins. (They must be removed to access internals.) All cameras are film tested and won't be returned until they are producing excellent exposures. All cameras receive between two and four hours of hands-on time from our team.
All necessary repair work is performed by a trained technician using specially designated tools and equipment. Replacement parts, if used in the course of repair, are fully refurbished and guaranteed. Because of their refurbished nature, previous wear may be present on any replacement components.
Each camera we service comes with a 90-day warranty.
Which models does this service cover?
This repair service covers manual focus folding SX-70 camera models. This includes Originals, Alphas, Model 2 variations and the Model 3 -- as long as none of them have the sonar autofocus mechanism (the gold circle above the lens.)
In the wrong spot? Please check out our repair + conversion services for the Sonar Autofocus.
Please note that 600 and SX-70 are completely different film speeds. Once you convert your camera to take 600 film, SX-70 film will no longer work in your camera.
Notes on Leathers
While we’d love to save the original leather skins, it just isn’t possible. The fasteners allowing the camera to be taken apart and serviced are located underneath. Since there is no way to peel the skins up without ruining them, they must be replaced with your choice of either black or tan genuine leather skins. They are fresh, new and made in Spain. *chef's kiss* While black and tan are our standard selections, we have plenty of new fresh skins if you are interested in more pizazz.
Film shield included
Our team recommends the use of a film shield to protect your photos from light while developing. This accessory is included with the purchase of this repair service.
Repairs ship free, both ways, in the U.S.
Within two business days of placing your service order, we will email you a prepaid shipping label you can use to mail us your camera. Prepaid labels will only be emailed to customers with a US address listed on their order. Shipping labels must be used within 28 days. Failure to use the label within 28 days may result in Retrospekt canceling and refunding the order less the cost of the shipping label. The prepaid labels expire after 28 days and are non-refundable.
Absolutely love the work you did. Camera is awesome. Works flawlessly looks beautiful. The packaging when Camera was returned as Leica like great company will always recommend you.
I’m blown away by the difference that was made with the conversion and repair ! The camera is working exactly how I hoped it would , if not better . Thank you so much . I have another sx-70 that I’ll definitely be sending in for repair and conversion.

I'm so excited to be capturing images with this beautiful vintage camera. There is something magical about it, I feel. Thank you, Retrospekt, for helping this original SX-70 see new light. ❤️
Wow!!! Camera #2 refurbishment and I didn’t think it could match the 1st one! Well Retrospekt, I’m absolutely blown away. Like the first one, I almost want to display it and not put it to use. Almost! Slapped in a 600 film pack and snapped picture #1. Worked like it just came off the Polaroid assembly line. Better actually! The last pic has both of the refurbs. This one has a Stormtrooper vibe for me. Thanks team Retrospekt!!!
Retrospekt did it again!! This camera looks amazing. I love 💕 how they turn a 50 year old camera into a working piece of art. Thanks Retrospekt this camera is awesome. Can’t wait to take pictures in the garden 🪴
The conversion to 600 film was completed in a timely fashion. The new leather really makes this camera “pop”. Several friends mistakenly thought the camera was a new purchase!
Completely satisfied with the entire experience.
Absolutely blown away by the care and repackaging of my camera. I had no idea this company existed, but I'm incredibly impressed by the detail they provided of the service and repairs of specific parts replaced, and repackaged with helpful information I wouldn't have known otherwise about the device. Thank you a million times over! I'll be telling everyone about you!
Quick courteous service; My ancient SX-70 purchased 40 years ago is no longer in a box and once again a joy to experience. Encourage all who have one of these cameras to rehab them!
This camera looks awesome Retrospekt did another amazing job turning a 50 year old camera into a piece of art that works like a charm. Thank you for all you do keep up the great work 😁
I’m always amazed how Retrospekt can turn a 50 year old camera into an updated camera that works and looks like new. This one is one of my favorite cameras that they have worked on for me. It’s a Sears Special Alpha that even more special now that it’s been touch by wizards at Retrospekt. Thanks for doing what you do.
By far the coolest looking refurbished camera Retrospekt has ever done for me. It looks amazing and works great 😊 So happy how this turned out I can’t wait to send them another one.
Thanks again Retrospekt keep up the great work.
Picked this camera up at a swap meet and it was worse for wear but after sending it in for the full conversation and repair it came back looking stunning and I couldn't be happier. Absolutely amazing customer service and help me with all my questions I had and shipping was very quick and easy and I got my camera back much sooner than I thought
The camera does not put out pictures that are as clear as I thought they would be. I had to look online for an indoor flash before I realized you were a vendor that was selling one. The camera does look great though.
Parents bought a SX-70 camera back in the 70s.
After mom passed away found the camera in a drawer.
Had repaired and converted to 600 film and its been working great.
My SX-70 looks amazing and works like new. Took my first picture using 600 film and I’m so happy with it. Thanks Retrospekt for making this 40+ year old camera work like new again!!!
Great job!! This SX-70 looks amazing and works like a new camera. So happy with the results and the fast and friendly service is top notch !
Will be sending them a few more SX-70’s for service the price and quality of their repairs are worth it for sure. Thank You!!!!!!!
Thank You Retrospekt this SX-70 upgrade came out AMAZING!!!! My first picture using 600 film was jaw dropping. Keep up the great work restoring these beautiful old cameras 📷
My SX-70 was returned to me carefully packaged and fully repaired. Thus far it works like new. The turn around time was as expected. Thank you RETROSPEKT!
Great experience! I was very impressed on how they shipped back the camera. It looks like a brand new camera now. They package it up in a new box and clean it until it shines. The pictures I’ve taken from it are amazing, much better than before. Would 100% recommend them. They were extremely fast, much faster than their estimated time. Thank you all, you’re doing great work!
Purchased the 600 film conversion and repair service for my Dad's old SX-70. Such a cool looking camera from a different era. Was sitting unused in his closet for nearly 50 years and I never knew he owned it. So nice to have this to remember him by. He loved photography. Thank you for helping me restore it to perfect working order.
So incredibly thankful for the work you guys do. My vintage 1975 model 1, I have been using an ND filter and it was in really good shape. 2 yrs ago my wife got me this camera for our 25th anniversary. This year I decided to finally get it modded and get a real CLA accomplished. They said 3 weeks for the repair and it was exactly that. The camera is like new out of the box. The photos are exactly the reason I started shooting Polaroid in the first place. The new skin and button just finished the process. It was already a head turner but now it's an enviable piece of hardware. Thank you for breathing new life into my EDC camera.
Not only was my camera sent back to me in an incredibly timely manner but it was also packaged beautifully. Packaged with care and lots of little touches which I appreciated (such as a list of everything that was repaired, fiddled with, etc...so neat!) The camera came back in GORGEOUS condition working perfectly (which is saying a lot because the exposure dial did not even spin when I sent it off).
Would recommend to anyone and will deffinetly use for all my future repair needs.
The Alpha 1 Model 2 I just received from Retrospekt—refinished in black-on-black and upgraded for 600 film—is outstanding. I’ve had several SX-70s refurbished by them over the years, and every one has come back performing better than new. This one is no exception. The finish is immaculate, the mechanics sound exactly as they should, and it’s already becoming my go-to camera.
Retrospekt consistently delivers work of a quality that keeps these cameras alive and shooting decades later. Thank you again for doing what you do.
